 Senior Research Scientist, Centro de Investigaciones del Mar y la Atmósfera (CIMA/CONICET-UBA)  Senior Research Scientist, French-Argentinean Institute for the Study of Climate and its Impacts (UMI IFAECI/CNRS-IRD-CONICET-UBA)  Full Professor. Departament of Oceanic and Atmospheric Sciences, FCEN, University of Buenos Aires. Director of the “Processes and Modeling of the Argentine Continental Shelf and the Río de la Plata Estuary” (PROMOPLATA) research group at CIMA/CONICET-UBA (http://www.cima.fcen.uba.ar/pplata.php), whose research seeks to advance in the study of the mechanisms associated with coastal systems, their simulation and prediction, and in the understanding of their impacts. The focus is on understanding the processes involved, their relationships, interactions and feedbacks, and to develop, apply and evaluate more realistic models that integrate all the processes involved. The general objectives of this research group are: - To observe, understand and improve our ability to model hydrodynamic and sedimentological processes in the Río de la Plata Estuary and Continental Shelf; - To understand the response of the coastal system and the Continental Shelf to climate variability and climate change; - To understand the relationship between biological and environmental processes in the La Plata River estuary and adjacent Continental Shelf; - To improve our ability to perform regional coastal and ocean forecasting.
