PICES-2025

From 8 to 14 November 2025, Yokohama (Japan) will host the PICES Annual Meeting under the theme “Innovative Approaches and Applications to Foster Resilience in North Pacific Ecosystems”. This event brings together marine scientists, ocean modelers, policymakers and stakeholders from around the world to explore and exchange ideas on the future of ocean science in the North Pacific region.
PICES (North Pacific Marine Science Organization), established in 1992, coordinates marine research across member nations and adjacent seas. In a time when climate change and anthropogenic pressures are rapidly reshaping marine ecosystems, PICES 2025 aims to integrate emerging technologies (e.g. AI, remote sensing, eDNA) and cross-disciplinary perspectives to strengthen resilience and sustainability in North Pacific ecosystems.  The meeting’s program includes thematic sessions (S1–S17), general posters, and eleven dedicated workshops.

In addition to the main PICES conference, a regional meeting of the West Pacific & Marginal Seas of South and East Asia Team is scheduled on 7 November 2025 in Yokohama, immediately preceding PICES (8–14 November). This gathering offers a dedicated opportunity for regional steering team leaders and members to reconnect in person, share progress since their inaugural meeting in San Sebastián (October 2023), and further coordinate activities especially those tied to the OceanPrediction DCC, before joining the broader PICES assembly.
