Call for Proposals for OPERA African Regional Centers of Excellence - Information session

We are excited to announce the opening of the Calls for Proposals in the framework of the African Regional Centres of Excellence (ArcX) programme’s ocean Component - OPERA – Ocean Prediction Enhancement in Regions in Africa. 

There are three calls for proposals with the objective to select public institutions in sub-Saharan Africa to establish and manage: 
  •  One consortium to develop and operate one regional Operational Ocean Forecasting Service and four coastal forecasting (OOFS consortium) 
  • Two consortia to develop and implement applications integrating forecasting data towards disaster risk reduction, sustainable blue economy and marine conservation.

1- Key details for the OOFS call for proposals: 
Launch of call: 6 March 2026
 Application deadline: 5 June 2026 12:00 am Paris Time 
 Grant: 800,000 EUROS 
Expected engagement: 40 months 

 Who can apply: This call is open to public/national institutions in a coastal Sub-Saharan African country 
2- Key details for the applications call for proposals:
The call will be available by the 13th of March 2026.
