Bio

Jennifer Veitch is based at the South African Environmental Observation Network (SAEON) and is head of their Sustainable Ocean Modelling Initiative (https://somisana.ac.za/) whose vision is for a sustained and transformed critical mass of internationally recognized South African numerical ocean modelling experts who provide accurate information about the changing state of the ocean for enhanced impact. Her team are developing bay-scale operational ocean forecasts of key regions of South Africa's coastline that are integrated into the decision support tools provided by the National Oceans and Coastal Information Management System (OCIMS: https://ocims.environment.gov.za/) to support good governance and sustainable management.
