Dr. Ismaïla NDOUR is a fishery marine biologist and researcher at the Oceanographic Research Centre of Dakar-Thiaroye (CRODT) of the Institut Sénégalais de Recherches Agricoles (ISRA). He holds a PhD in Halieutic and Aquacultural Science from the Université Cheikh Anta Diop in Dakar. He has over 15 years' experience in scientific research.
His fields of interest are: marine biodiversity, bio-ecology of aquatic species, management of marine resources and ecosystems, ecosystem approach to fisheries, critical habitats of aquatic species and marine plankton.
Dr. Ndour has supervised many students, including Masters and two (2) current PhDs, and lectures at local universities. He has also published several A-rank scientific papers.
Dr. Ndour was coordinator of the EREBiS/PREMAC project, and of the AGD-Pélagics project.
He represented the Ministry of Agriculture, Food Sovereignty and Livestock (MASAE) on the Steering Committee of the Environmental Risk Mapping Project. He is also the Ministry's representative on the Supervisory Board of the National Aquaculture Agency.
Dr Ndour has also contributed to various national, regional and international research projects, including PARTAGE; GDRH/WWF; COMFISH/USAID, JEAI/IRD; AGD-Pélagics; Récifs Artificiels Saint-Louis/BP KOSMOS; TRIATLAS; HABITABLE; EREBiS/PREMAC, among others.
Dr Ismaïla NDOUR is currently the Director of the Oceanographic Research Centre of Dakar-Thiaroye (CRODT) at the Institut Sénégalais de Recherches Agricoles (ISRA).
