Bio

Karina von Schuckmann (Dr., HDR) is a physical oceanographer in the scientific direction of Mercator Ocean international, France, with particular focus on the role of the ocean in the Earth’s climate system and change. She is lead of the Copernicus Marine ocean reporting framework, lead author of IPCC SROCC, the AR6 Working Group 1 report, and contributes to the IOC Global Ocean Science Report and the WMO State of the Climate, member of the European Academy of Science, GCOS/GOOS OOPC panel member, member of the ESA Climate Science Advisory Board and laureate of the climate price of the French Academy of Science in 2023.
